From the beginning, we would like to acknowledge that the minority groups emphasized in the chorus are not equally oppressed by law enforcement and our social paradigm. However, they are all groups victimized by the United State's systematic repression of the "Other"; and in many cases, are all objects of discrimination in the eyes of the law. You may find a black cop, a Jewish cop, an Asian cop; but the orders they follow are, and always have been, instituted by white cis hetero men. And so we sing...

A young boy from Cleveland playin' with a fake gun,
Everyone knew Tamir was just having some fun,
A cop yelled "hands up!" but he didn't understand
So he got one in the torso then he got one again.
There he goes, crashing on the driveway,
Everybody sees it thinking that there's no way

The gun was fake, but he did, because that's how it goes.

But unarmed and harmless the boy was shot down,
And the man got away with murdering Michael Brown...

But because of Florida's stand-your-ground law,
George stuck a bullet right in Treyvon's chest,
Acquitted for his crimes while the boy was laid to rest!
